Gears & Guns

VR

This game is made for the oculus quest 2.

In this vr game you have to defeat 40 enemies that come after you.

Collect a gun and defend yourself. try to do it in the fastest time and with the most headshots. You can see how long you take and the headshots you have on the screens.

In this game we wanted to create the feeling you are in a stadium by working with audio. The audience screams loud when you land a headshot and you also have a commentator shouting out what happens.

The ammo magazine has 30 bullets so you have to be carefull with your ammo. If you don’t have any bullets left you have to search for a new magazine

Gameplay

Here you can see and hear the game. The enemies always know where the player is and run towards them trying to slam them.

The player can control their movement with the left joystick. you can also use the right joystick to turn on the vertical axis in case turning is hard from where you’re playing.

Process

During this project I was focused on UI/UX and scrum.

I worked together with 2 artists and a programmer so we worked in a group of 4. We worked on this project for 10 weeks.

The programmer wanted to do a lot so our scope was pretty big.
At first they wanted to create a online multiplayer vr shooter. But this turned out to be way too much on our plate. As scrum master I had to create some rules because we were falling too hard behind and had to scrap the multiplayer. The programmer had to leave the team because they kept pushing on the multiplayer when it wasn’t achievable anymore and also didn’t come through their promises. This meant we had to change the concept of the game.

Without a programmer in our team I had to pick up some of their tasks. But because I allready had a big plate we chose to make the game very simple. I created a simple enemy that runs towards the player and tries to slam them. We also chose too keep a old script and rework it into a healing zone.

I am happy with the choices I made for this project but wished I had taken action sooner. Eventually the game turned into a finished product and I am happy with the results.
